Attendance better qualifies you to attend any MAA training events, climbs and expeditions that require RCK 1 skills. DETAILS

Online Training: Rock Climbing Level One, Day Two ("Online RCK 1.2") is a live 45-minute interactive presentation using a combination of visuals, demonstration, video, and Q & A to help prepare you for success as a beginner level rock climber. It is an accessible, succinct version of our on-site RCK 1.2 Climbing Technique, Bolted Anchors and Rappelling training, a full day field course held on the mountain. To prepare for it and all RCK Level 1 climbing events we'll present, demonstrate and discuss the following at the online RCK 1.2 training:

  • Anchoring a top-rope from bolts

  • Knots review knots

  • Continue refining belay technique

  • How and why to anchor the belayer

  • In-depth face and crack climbing technique

  • Coaching each participant on advanced techniques

  • Instruction and practice rappelling with a back-up system

DATE AND TIME: Wednesday, May 30th, 7:30 pm - 8:30 pm. Please arrive on the call at least 10 minutes early.

REGISTRATION: $35, please register through payment on this page. Unlimited access included in MAA Full Membership.

PARTICIPATION: Attending the online RCK 1.2 training makes you more likely to be selected from the interest list for any of the free RCK 1.2 training dates, better prepared for any RCK 1.2 PRO training dates, and better prepared for all climbing events and expeditions rated at RCK 1. Your participation on all events will automatically be recorded on your MAA profile.

HOW TO REGISTER FOR THOSE WITH FULL MEMBERSHIP: Make sure to "sign in" here at the official MAA website so you will be identified as having a Full Membership. Then click "Register". Your registration will be confirmed here and manually on MAA International on Meetup.com.  There is no charge per session and you can attend as many sessions of any online training as often as you are registered.

HOW TO REGISTER FOR THOSE WITHOUT FULL MEMBERSHIP: Make sure to "sign in" here at the official MAA website so you will be identified. You can upgrade to Full Membership to have unlimited access to all online training events here. Otherwise register for this session by paying the $35 fee right here on this page, orange box, top right. You can purchase the rights to unlimited downloading or streaming of a pre-recorded version of this online training at www.vimeo.com/ondemand/rck.

ONCE YOUR REGISTRATION IS CONFIRMED: A day before the online training event you will be emailed the call-in information to the email listed on your MAA profile and the email listed on MAA International on Meetup.com. If you have not received the email around 12 hours ahead of time please check your spam folder. If you cannot find it please call MAA at (916) 692-0005 or email darren@mountainascent.org.

ON THE DAY OF THE TRAINING: Please call in at least 10 minutes before start time with a mobile device or computer over a strong connection. It is recommended that you are able to view the live video feed from the presentation as this will greatly enhance your understanding of what is being shown and discussed. You can interactively participate in the call with regular audio or chat messaging. Questions can be asked at any time. Visuals will be presented with simultaneous presenter audio and video. Those who are registered but unable to attend can be sent a recording of the training valid for around two weeks.
